dream on

I love looking at old photographs.  Sometimes I wish I could go back in a time tunnel to, I don’t know, maybe London of the late 1800’s or NY in the 50’s and photograph life as it was.

Therefore whenever any of my (non)photos turns out looking like an old one, I can’t help but feeling delighted.

It does have the look of one of your photographs! Where did you find it, was it in an old shoe-box, left there from some grandparent-photographer? Maybe (non)photography runs in the genes of your family ;-)

I like a lot the sense of movement in the image, one can almost hear the clattering of the trolley climbing the hill in the snow storm. Then there is this surreal pole in the background between the trolley and the trees which looks like a cross surrounded by a luminous aura. What is this, the "last train from paradise" ???

it looks like one of my photographs because it is :)

wow. looks like you took this photo in the previous Century mate :) Great photo Nitsa!

this is great! i like how you achived your goal by not having any contemporary things like cars and planes in your shot. nice one. san francisco is the best city in the world! :-)

Even though i'm sure the photo was recently taken...

I would say the picture could have been very easily taken back in the early 1900's with the turn of the century victorian row homes on the left and the trolley car sliding down the hill.

My favorite photos to look at are old photos of cities...especially ones from the early 1900s to the 1960s of Southern California Cities.

Nice to get a sentimental look without using that obvious sepia effect thing in Photoshop.

It's a wonderful shot - to me it has hints of infrared work, a ghostly feel to it. Even if you didn't use infrared, it's still beautiful!

Since travelling in time is not possible, what happens if someone brings one of those very old cameras out of their closet and starts photographing today's San Francisco, New York, or London? Would it look more genuine than digital imitations? Is there anybody out there who is doing something like this? Just wondering.
Anyways, cool photo Nitsa.

Nitsa, this is fantastic. It looks like a Daguerreotype, those early photos exposed on glass coated in silver. All it's missing is a little sepia tone (although I like it the way it is). Unllike Jafar, I'm not so sure time travel is not possible. Looks like you did it here.

I love old(looking) photos as well. You did a great job on this one.

I travel in time and space in my sleep and I photograph from the subconscious. I think the picture is getting clearer :)

It's all about art here. A photo could show a piece of time, but your work go beyond; I mean all artist create art from the subconcious: Van Gogh, Picasso, Gaugain, Lautrec, Degas and Nitsa ;)

Tweeking what you have photographed is an art, creating a new reality, exaggerating or minimizing elements or even all that was in the original. Creating a news vision, making people wonder, frown, excited.....maybe time traveling. You seem to understand how to do that. However it should always be acombination of subject and what and who is in it and form. Admirer your style.

very nice, looks like something out of the twilight zone

the slanted lines and bright explosion of light is what makes it!
