Rain

There are several instances when non-photography makes perfect sense.    One such happy occasion is photographing in the rain.

Somehow it doesn’t seem quite so appealing to me getting caught in the rain while carrying around all that additional (and un-necessary) photography gear.

In fact the only extra gear you might need during a rainstorm is your trendy jacket/raincoat to hide your camera in between shots and, if you’re lucky to have one, a good friend with a big umbrella.

Nitsa, I agree. Sometimes it's a great relief when the elements say, "You can't do that today...get simple." It's freeing. And I like this shot. If there is such a thing as black and white watercolor (oxymoron) this would look like one.

wonderful shot. i love that grittyness, that sense of darkness. its quite wonderful. you have a many wonderful photographs, and i love that youve mainly shot in black & white. so do I (http://www.cobwebstudios.com/cws_photos.htm). theres something about distorting reality by taking away color that I love so much about b&w photography. no matter how straight forward or plain the shot is, theres just great sense to a b&w photo! anyway, you have a really great portfolio of photographs. im sure these would look so so nice printed and behind glass! i found your site from photoblogs.org, and you are one of my favorites!

the figure in the center of the photo with the hat and the umbrella does it for me,....and all this non-photography talk just makes me so happy. cheers to you!

Very nice shot. Looks like the old Masters, "Brassai" & "Bresson"

nice! good timing shot. you sheltering from the rain?
i like this one.

Nice photo, and comment!.
Nice b/w photo.

Great shot :-) my eyes were instantly drawn to the man and the umbrella. It works fantastic in B&W, and reminds me of living in the city, having a coffee and watching the world walk by in the rain :-)

nice! i feel like i'm caught in the rain with you there. nice capture!

Ever heard "Tom's diner" by Suzanne Vega? About the lady straightening her stocking in front of the diner's window, while outside is raining? I know this is the other way around, but this photo reminds me that feeling of looking at the city life in a rainy day. Umbrella's tilted in the direction of the wind, walking around their secret businesses, and the smell of wet asphalt. It is a perfect companion to the other city life busy people photo of yours, the one with the ghosts in the station...

I like this, at first it seems confusing but it really settles the eye quickly, perfect for that kind of weather!
